Mauren McCarthy Draper "The Nature of Music: Beauty, Sound, and Healing"
Lauren has a lifetime of magically blending art and science as an educator, historian and performer. Moving internationally through audiences including those in Spain, Switzerland, Japan, Egypt and the US, she has presented concerts, conducted workshops and lecture series in addition to creating documentaries. The Spanish Ministry has supported her musical performances through national tours. As a result of Lauren's album “Jewels of the Sephardim”, the Spanish PBS organization requested Lauren's live performance as a part of their documentary on the Sephardim of Spain.
As a native of Washington DC, Lauren is a graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. She also holds a post graduate degree from Goddard College, including specialization in Medieval and Renaissance Early Music from the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Switzerland.
The Washington Post described her singing as offering “compelling tone and exquisite style”. Her highly acclaimed voice has been described as “crystal clear, almost shiny, well-trained and a joy to listen to.”
World Music / Early Music:
As an ambassador for peace, Lauren has created multi-cultural recordings which illuminate the rich history of the Golden Age of Spain. In these peaceful and brilliant collaborations, the listener will experience the compelling combination of Arabic, Jewish and Christian musical traditions. These works have received highly acclaimed international reviews from such publications as the New York Times, Washington Post, Trade & Culture, Boston Glove, San Francisco Chronicle, and LA Times.

In addition to her work focusing on early musical traditions, Lauren's versatile talents have also brought forth more contemporary works. In flowing vocal tones, Lauren infuses devotion to Spirit, revelations of truth and experiential beauty.
Having received critical acclaim, Lauren's album “Tree of LIfe” captures that beauty while at the same time offering inner peace. Encouraging a peaceful night's rest, Lauren's album “Sweetly Sing a Lullaby” offers uplifting gentle sleep to all planetary children. Elegant melodic tones combined with lush harmonic accompaniment create the next album “Ecstactic Communion”. Inspired by an ancient Hawaiian mantra, Lauren manifests a deep cleansing and healing experience in the album “Healing Through Ho’oponopono”. Finally the album “Maui Whales Songs” will transport the listener into the waters of emergence with these amazing creatures.
Lauren continues to perform in multiple venues while also producing educational and historical programs. These offerings include customized workshops, instruction in singing techniques, and lectures in music history.
In addition, Lauren is the creator of "The Astrological Birthprint” as well as teaches sound healing, chigong, and breath work.
Lauren is also a Certified Practioner in Shamanic Studies.
